Sherry Pye Morris

My name is Sherry Morris, I am 39 years old. I was diagnosed on August 21 2015 with DCIS. I had a mammogram in July. I received a phone call stating that I needed to come for a second mammogram due to some density showing up in the mammogram. The second mammogram also showed a dense area . The doctor called and said to come in for a biopsy, being that I had not felt anything suspicious in my breast I wasn't worried not even at this point. I went in for the biopsy on August 20 2015, I received the phone call the very next day letting me know that cancer had in deed been found!!!! Scared and thinking the worst, I have two children the worst thoughts going through my head...... I had an MRI where another suspicious spot was found so I was called in for another biopsy it too came back as DCIS.. once again it was all feeling too real, scared and not sure what the future held for me..I met with the doctors and chose to have a double mastectomy with reconstruction. The last test I had to do before surgery could take place was a biopsy of the lymph nodes which, thank GOD came back negative. Finally received a date for my surgery for September 22 2015. I became I survivor on that date... My family has given me the greatest support along with friends and some complete strangers which now feel like family.... what I want women to get out of my story is please dont think just because you dont feel anything doesn't mean there's nothing there.... Go for your Mammogram today early detection is very important and is what made me a survivor....
